Parents are vital

Parent serviceFamily service to the school makes a big difference. Simply put, families make it possible for many parts of the program to be successful.

Each NOVA family is required to commit 30 service hours to the school each year, and most families work many more.

This provides direct parental involvement in the child's education and personal experience working with the students and teachers on special projects. Parent help also in some of the day-to-day activities of the school. Parents serve as team coaches, teacher's assistants, board members, special resource speakers, field trip chaperones, and building maintenance crew members. Parents assist the school with fund raising, publicizing the school as ambassadors, Winterim, the fall retreat, the spring trips, extra-curricular activities, community service efforts, field trips, parties, and governance. All members of the school community benefit from the richly varied talents and energy of the parents.
