OlyBot Robotics is a community-based robotics club in Olympia that competes through FIRST Robotics. This year they expanded their robotics program to include a team in the FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) division, which is an advance robotics competition for grades 7-12.
Four of the six team members on the OlyBot Robotics FTC team are 7th grade NOVA students and NOVA has donated space for the club to meet. This past weekend, their team placed 5th among 13 area teams, all of which were high-school based teams with the exception of the OlyBot FTC team. NOVA's talent was front and center.
"The kids not only build a competitive robot, but they were fully engaged in the competition, and showed true gracious professionalism throughout the event," noted Dominique Coco, the Lead Coach and Mentor for OlyBot Robotics. Their next event will be December 7 at Capital High School for all of those interested in the program and cheering them on.
