NOVA's Enhanced Distance Learning

This fall, our students and teachers will be engaged in our Enhanced Distance Learning program. Why enhanced? Because we have spent the summer designing a program that builds on and goes beyond what we were able to offer in the spring. That immediate response to the pandemic, implemented days after Governor Inslee closed schools, received an approval rating of more than 90% from parents and students. Our plan for this fall is even better.

The Basics

NOVA's school day will run from 8:30 - 3:00 every weekday. All students will take two classes in the morning, each lasting up to 50 minutes. While they will be facilitated via Zoom, they will involve small and large group discussion, instruction from teachers, work time, and a variety of computer-based and tactile tasks. On Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, these two classes will be core academics (Math, Language Arts, Geography, Science, Spanish, History). On Wednesdays, these classes will be grade-level seminars and social emotional classes known as cohorts. Students will then fill in the rest of their schedule by choosing a minimum of three enrichment classes.

The School Day

Here are schedules for 6th graders and for our 7th and 8th advanced grades. To view the enrichment possibilities, see our 6th Grade Enrichment Catalog and our Advanced Class Enrichment Catalog.
